Did you know that Blooming Tree Maternity has a scholarship program for low-income families?
Approximately 40,000-45,000 pregnant women in the State of Texas live at or below the poverty line. These women are at the highest risk for poor birth outcomes, cesareans, and other labor and birth interventions, as well as infant and maternal mortality.
They cannot afford the luxury of a doula, even though such support and education could help many of them have better birth and postpartum outcomes.
Blooming Tree Maternity strives to help these families, while at the same time providing a sustainable living wage to our doulas, and furthering the training and education of doula and midwifery work to low-income persons and people of color. All of this is done in an effort to stop the cycle of poverty and oppression, and strengthen our community leaving birth, women, and families better and stronger.
A portion of all BTM doula services proceeds goes toward this program. Additionally, clients, friends, and the general public can all make donations of any amount directly to the program at any time.
